Delmonico's since 1838
The success of the three Bice Restaurant projects brought on yet another for Michael Allen. That project was the resurrection of the legendary Delmonico Restaurant in the wall Street area of New York (not to be Confused with Delmonico in Las Vegas or in New Orleans). This is the original Delmonico restaurant that catered to Clients such as Mark Twain, Diamond Jim Brady and practically every President before the Reagan Administration. This is the restaurant where the classics, Lobster Newburg and the Baked Alaska were created. Michael Allen created a contemporary version of the Baked Alaska along with his trade mark half moon Crème Brulee and White Chocolate Pistachio Blackout desserts. His desserts were welcomed by all food critics with open arms. Ruth Reichl of the New York Times stated in her DINER'S JOURNAL that the desserts at Delmonico's were ornate, delicious, and absolutely up to date. |
